No Cost eBook Publishing

That I'm interested in self-publishing should be apparent to followers of this blog. Did you know that there's a free tool to use. It's Mobipocket Creator.

And for the Free Software folk out there who this will irk - be irked. Mobipocket Creator is said to be 'The Mobipocket Creator is a free software.' on the site. If anyone can find the 4 freedoms in the following license agreement... well, it must be in fine print because this looks like a proprietary license to me.

But then, I'm not a lawyer. Maybe the Free Software Foundation might want to educate this subsidiary of Amazon.com? Or... perhaps... they could just explain it to Amazon.com. Just because they sell books doesn't mean that they read them... Read more »

Free Books For Your Kindle

This is a pretty quick post for most of the Kindle users out there who want to get their hands on content for free - good content. eBooks in the public domain or that are open content. Read more »

First Impressions Of the Kindle DX.

Kindle DXIt showed up a day behind Amazon.com's estimate, but it's here.

The Kindle DX came neatly boxed - and you have to pass the IQ test to open it. Once open, you're supposed to run to the nearest electrical outlet and charge it. Sliding and releasing the 'power switch' at the top gets you up and running. Read more »

Why I'm Getting A Kindle DX

So I ordered a Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G, 9.7. This is not what anyone was expecting - you, me or Amazon.com, I'm sure.

Personal Side

I've been looking at eBooks and eBook readers for some time - when I was published, it was an eBook through O'Reilly (and I consider the book out of date so I won't link to it). I know that electronic publishing is, at the very least, a very large part of the future. But I've had problems with all the DMCA hijinx going on so I've been very down on the Amazon Kindles - with good reason.

Recently, in moving back up to the U.S. from Trinidad and Tobago, I faced a daunting task: Over 5,000 books in my library and no cost effective way to move them from one place to another. I don't like parting with books, but it was necessary - and truth be told, I'd already read the books and only used a few for reference over the years.

Just Write, 'Public Domain'

In looking at the Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device, I saw something odd in the particulars.
