Open Source Software: Case Studies Examining its Use (July 11, 2003)

I got an email from Paul Dravis yesterday informing me of the Open Source Software: Case Studies Examining its Use pdf file available from the Dravis Group. I've added it to the Caribbean Free Software and Open Source Resources page.

It's an exceptional read with hard empirical data. I've often said that the use of Free Software and Open Source software is evolutionary, whereas many people like to say it is revolutionary. The studies in the pdf support this distinction, and are well worth looking at.

The studies stand on their own merits. This is great stuff for advocates of Free Software and Open Source to read, as it gives answers to some of the more dastardly FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) questions thrown out by those who are supporters of proprietary software.

Enjoy!
