Basic first aid involves the ABCs. Airway, Breathing, Circulation. Bleeding falls under 'C' - circulation. Lets face it, 'ABB' just isn't as memorable. So basic first aid does include control of bleeding.

So, an iPhone application dealing in first aid showed him what every primary school student should know. And this, some will say, is an inspirational use of technology.

What it really shows me is that the destitution of education created a need for an application on an overpriced phone whose majority of features are not well served in the developing world.

I'm sorry. If this is big news for technology, the education systems of the planet really suck. If children aren't learning basic first aid we shouldn't just go out and buy them iPhones. There's a line that has been crossed. When a phone is being used to explain to you how to bandage yourself, there's an epic fail somewhere.
