Insight into Linux Gaming.
I did an interview with Michael Simms of Linux Game Publishing over at LinuxGazette.com. It's pretty interesting, and opened my eyes to a few things.
The first thing that I learned was that video drivers for Linux were not as big an issue as DirectPlay was - and that once again, the business idiots in Redmond are screwing up stuff for everyone, as usual. No surprise, but I've been out of the loop in game development. Not that I ever did any, but I did also want to.
I was also surprised to hear how Blizzard seems to think of the Linux community. They do produce really great games, but while I have enjoyed Blizzard games in the past, I do not appreciate the fact that they are being goofballs about another software platform. Is it a business thing? It must be.
Over time, I expect I'll be picking up at least one game from Linux Game Publishing so that I have something other to do than sit here and type at the world. :-)
