Avaaz.org's Petition To World Leaders On the Food Crisis

While food prices are escalating all over the world, some of us are more fortunate than others when it comes to income. As this video of Zainab Bangura, Sierra Leone's foreign minister, points out - some people will likely starve unless something is done about the rising food prices.

In our own little pockets around the world, we may be looking at the rise of food prices in supermarkets and seeing it eat into our savings. We might complain about the lack of flour in Trinidad and Tobago, or the lack of chicken, or what have you - but the truth of the matter is that some people don't even have it that good, and that without intervention a lot of people are going to starve.

In 1900, there were about 1.6 billion people on the planet. As of 2000, there have been over 6.2 billion. Our food production has not kept pace, apparently...

They aren't asking for money. They're asking for your support through a petition.

You're wasting time on the Internet anyway, right?

Take a moment and sign the petition.

Teach your children what we have taught our children - that the Earth is our Mother. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons and daughters of the Earth. If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves. This we know.

The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood that unites one family. All things are connected.

Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons and daughters of the Earth. We did not weave the web of life; We are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the Web, We do to ourselves. -- Chief Seattle

Food crisis and politic crisis in Guinea-Conakry

Thank you for the translation!

Merci
