Since Chris's Wordpress seems to have eaten my comment on the article Chris Pirillo's (Lockergnome) Is OLPC A Lost Cause?, where Chris talks about the issues related to Negroponte from his perspective... I'll post my comment here. I think, once again, the technology issue was missed. Since I've been reading him for a while, I figure I should make sure Chris sees this (probably through Technorati). Maybe the original author, Gundeep Hora, will see it as well. Why it wasn't linked to the original article also has me scratching my head.
The comment:
Gundeep/Chris, the initiative was flawed from the start. Negroponte picked the wrong technology to start with - and the last UNCTAD report bears out what many of us in the trenches of the developing world were saying then.
Links to the actual UNCTAD reports through here:

From the ivory towers of developed nations, everyone was singing its praises: but that was the problem. As usual. No one was actually listening to the people who allegedly mattered in the first place. ;-)
I ain't going to comment on the site if it pukes on links, either. I understand the why of that, but disagree with the how. Get a Content Management System, would ya?
And all this ado about Negroponte and the OLPC just makes me wait for Chris Crowley to come to Negroponte's aid... or the OLPC...
Sheesh. Quit poking the carcass with a stick!
