Copper-rumped Hummingbird (Amazilia tobaci)

Hummingbird Silhouette

Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to photograph this bird with the new camera yet - and the older camera was not able to handle taking the picture of this little bird from only 4 feet away, probably because the autofocus botched things up.

This bird regularly visits when the mango tree and others are in blossom. It is aggressive and will attack other birds while making its discontent known through a repeated medium pitched cheep which is at a volume that seems to defy the size of the bird itself. I am considering a nectar feeder for the hummingbirds, but do not want to interfere with them too much - there are plenty of flowering trees year round, and it is always a pleasure to find this visitor nearby - even if it is busy chasing away bananaquits.
