Black Vulture; Corbeau (Coragyps Atratus)

Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus) in flight (3)

While not a visitor to the yard, there is always at least one corbeau circling above, riding the currents - leading me to believe that they perch on San Fernando Hill itself, perhaps even laying their eggs at the feet of some trees there.

They are easy to identify in flight - they will flap a few times and ride the winds for periods of time. The sweep of their wings distinguishes them from other bird of prey, as do the white feathers on the outer parts of their wings.

Eventually I will climb the hill and find some better photos of them perched or, if I am lucky/unlucky, when they are eating something.
