Traffic in Trinidad and Tobago
One of the things that I don't understand in Trinidad and Tobago is how so many cars could have been sold and the government not identify that the roads are insufficient. In the picture at left, a policeman is seen directing traffic on the way South from Port of Spain - and honestly, I believe the police were doing more harm than good.
While Ministers and the Politically blessed are permitted police escorts where traffic must move out of the way, it seems that they are not being given enough of their own medicine. I honestly question why these Ministers are given the right to bypass traffic in this manner because of some politically driven appointment. They had a hand in creating the problems, or better, allowing the problems to get to such levels - perhaps they should be tasting their own medicine a bit more.
And policemen in bulletproof vests... someone should whisper in their ears that dark vests are probably not a great way to assist in being seen, and that the vest doesn't keep one from being run over. Neither do short pants. :-)

Ent?
I always questioned why Ministers get to bypass traffic. Maybe if they didn't they would be more motivated to do something about it. It's really bad PR though. You can almost hear them cackling as they speed by and shouting "plebs!" at the rest of us.
