Ever The Odd Request
I'm going to be visiting Suriname in a few months, mainly because there is someone worth visiting there (wink). A phone call, and I get the, 'Can you bring me something?' question.
But of course. What is it she wants?
'Goat milk.'
Umm. OK. Then it becomes powdered goat milk. Then it includes directions on where to get the powdered goat milk in Trinidad and Tobago. And none of this seemed weird to her.
So I'm laughing. I'm thinking of how I would have to explain this if I were going through US customs somewhere.
'No really. The white powder is goat milk. Seriously. Taste it.' But then, there's the Anthrax aspect too - white powder. This could really be a nightmare.
Powdered goat milk. And I still don't know why I'm getting the request, but I'm laughing. I'm laughing hard. So I ask her, and she says it's for a baby sloth.
A sloth? She emails me links later. Suriname Environmental Advisory Services. SlothWeb.net.
Apparently, there's a three toed sloth named Loesje, and probably others. And they need powdered goats milk. That's kinda cool.
And you know, that's what makes some people more special than others. When you get stretched, when you learn stuff because of a simple request... that's interesting. So I'll be taking powdered goats milk for a three toed sloth. How many times do you get to do that?
Hat tip to the old man who died two years ago around this time in the morning.

There is a two toed baby
There is a two toed baby sloth that needs the milk.
Her mom got eaten.
Loesje is already eating leaves.
Now that's funny!
I imagine goat's milk comes in packages that are sealed and labeled, so you should have no problem transporting it. It's not like you're bringing the goat's milk in a small leather pouch...!
