International Fund for Animal Welfare in SecondLife - Saving The Seals.
It has been a busy week, with much going beyond the scenes. As one of the people behind setting up the International Fund for Animal Welfare presence in SecondLife. I like that the company I work for, Trellon LLC, got this as a project. It is a good cause. It was a pleasure to do. And more importantly, the first baby seals that I could find in SecondLife were something that I got to make. That was surprising.
The exhibit speaks for itself - you can find it on Progressive Island, and it will be changing over the course of the next few weeks with up to date information. The area doesn't claim to be a cutting edge SecondLife area, but it shows that there is an effective presence at a low cost available to organizations such as IFAW. From a personal standpoint, I think that is important - and will be effective given the increase in traffic within SecondLife as a whole. Progressive Island, as a whole, is becoming a broad and interesting community - from the Model United Nations area, to the SecondLife Netroots area, and more. In fact, the things being discussed behind closed instant messages across the internet bode for many interesting things over the next year.
Of course, since I participated in it, I held back from writing of it. It is too easily perceived to be the beating of one's own drum - so I was glad that Eloise was able to cover it for SecondLife Insider. And while it was unfortunate that the area did get griefed yesterday night (See Rik Riel's entry), it did press on a few things in a serious way which have allowed for a better understanding for others as to why things are done in certain ways.
In all, it is educational and fun. I look forward to the future of IFAW in SecondLife - and I think that anyone who likes animals will as well.
They aren't trying to do anything but something good. Why not help them out?
Yes, slow writing week on KnowProSE. busy busy.
