Synthetic Environments and the Enterprise: Mixed Reality Event
Forgot to post this earlier this week due to work and other things. Mixed event today - Synthetic Environments and the Enterprise - sponsored by Cisco - taking place in Silicon Valley at TechMart and being streamed live into Second Life at a special build between the two Cisco Islands (Cisco Systems 4 200,1,26 and Cisco Systems 3 192,222,26.
There are a lot of participants:
- Helen Chang, World of Warcraft guild leader
- Reuben Steiger, CEO of Millions of Us
- Geoffrey Moore, President of Santa Fe Institute on Serious Games Conference
- Byron Reeves, Stanford Media X talking about psychology of avatars in immersive environments
- Edward Castronova, the virtual worlds economist
- Tom Malone, Sloan MIT professor and author of Future of Work – he will be presenting in SL instead of RL
- Alpheus Bingham from Innocentive/Eli Lilly – he will be presenting in SL instead of RL
- Chuck House from Stanford Media X talking about serious applications of gaming
- Christian Renaud from Cisco talking about Cisco and serious applications of gaming
Cisco is one of the hosts, and is streaming the full event into Second Life. Some of the participants will be off-site, and be presenting as Avatars in Second Life instead of RL. The basis of the event is how human interaction is taking place in worlds like Second Life and World of Warcraft, and how businesses are collaborating in Life.
Props to Jeremy Pepper for pointing this out to me last week.
You know that there will be a penguin around for as much as possible. ;-)

Good event.
Will be writing up the event later/in the morning. Lots of pics uploading.
