Mazda Hakaze Launch in SecondLife
Interesting event with a nice build on Nagare Island - and the Mazda Hakaze looked sharp, though driving it through the obstacles of SL Newbie drivers left me at the desktop. Returning to SecondLife, I found myself where I was before teleporting - and so I searched for Nagare Island again to teleport back.
Up until that point, it seemed like no one was talking. The car magically appeared, I took some pictures, got a car, went for a drive, and SecondLife crashed when the car did - into the Hakaze which a diminutive woman in a purple blouse stood next to.
You really shouldn't park in the middle of the road, lady.
I did manage to get back after 2 more SecondLife crashes, only to hop into a car and be played like a hockeypuck by everyone with a car exactly the same as mine. Disturbing. This is the stuff that recurring nightmares are made of.
Overall, it was a fun event - plagued only by what seemed like the majority of people being so new to SL. You'd think media would be paying more attention to this sort of thing and learn the basics a bit better.
Unfortunately, I couldn't stay for the kiting and so on... I really just wanted to find out about the Hakaze and go, so I was a bit disappointed. I heard no speakers. Up until now, I have yet to hear anyone but the audience speak outside of IM... and that seems somewhat strange to me, since in IM I don't know who is who. I'm used to seeing an avatar indicating that they are saying something when they chat. My bad.
I took my copy of the demonstration car - only to find I could not rez it anywhere else. Weird. Why on Earth would they do that?
It is a good looking car. Nagare Island is a nice sim. No more than that can I say.
Here are some shots I got:

Car
Hi. Nice blog you have here.
Nice images, too. I went there. But i could keep the car. It seems that you have to jump with it on the street up on the hill to be the owner of the car you drive. :-) Maybe you did not? At this time the street was also not so crowded.
I also tried kite surfing... Was nice. But I am not good enough to script my own jumps and stuff.
Maybe one day!
Well, I kept crashing.
Seems silly to have to get a car partly based on the stability of SL. :-)
The street was pretty crowded when I was there.
Well, a picture is worth 1000 words.
Here's your sign:
Thank you
Thank you very much.
