And I Will Be Remembered As A Penguin...

Nobody Fugazi x 2Via 'Second Life' Lessons: Cisco, IBM Pace Corporate Push Into Virtual Worlds:

A penguin has been showing up at Cisco's public events lately. Attentive and civil, it never causes a disturbance, but sits quietly on a seat and listens courteously to the presentation on routers, or optical networking, or IOS software, or whatever the topic of the day happens to be. Although the only one of its species in the room -- everyone else is human, although some are rather eccentrically dressed -- no one gives it a second look...

A penguin with good manners... my mother must be so proud... and my father, perhaps in a more grounded response, would say, 'What the hell are you doing?'. That my father got Open Source and Free Software may not have allowed him to connect the dots to Tux, but hey. Life goes on - or not.

The article goes on (5 pages, in case you didn't read from the first link):

...Back to that penguin. As it turns out, it is a prominent Second Life blogger who goes by the name of Nobody Fugazi. In real life he's a programmer -- hence his genuine interest in Cisco products. "He's very cool, very funny and we welcome him to our events," says Renaud. "He just likes representing himself as a penguin."...

Hey. Thats me. And... why do I like representing myself as a penguin, you ask? OK, here's a list:

  • Easier to look around without a huge human av to get in the way.
  • No need for shampoo.
  • I like sushi.
  • I like Linux
  • Less laundry
  • I can stay stationary and people may not notice me at all (stealth penguin mode)
  • Chicks love penguins
  • Escorts don't proposition penguins, and neither do men whose interest is in other men.
  • It's just fun.

Will being a penguin go to this blogger's head? No. Still just a blogging penguin with an unfortunate human streak, though it would appear that now I'm typecast. My SecondLife acting career is in ruins; I'll only be remembered as a penguin.

And you know - that isn't so bad. :-)

Nothing to see here, move along... oh, but bring me back some California Rolls. Love those things.

I guess..

You are better off being remembered as a pengiun then as your female av. That thing was just bad.

Hehe, true...

I can't make a good looking female av at ALL, I guess. No talent.

And no, you weirdos, it wasn't a transvestite thing. I was trying to break into lady's fashion - and instead broke it... :-D

It's not a lack of talent....

It's all that thick facial hair...

Cute!

Maybe you should register http://www.nobodyfugazi.com/. It's a pretty distinctive brand you are building for yourself.

Oh, and "No need for shampoo"? How do you penguins get your coats so shiny then? :-)

Shampoo?

Whale blubber. Try it. :-)

*rolls eyes* no, it wasn't a

*rolls eyes* no, it wasn't a transvestite thing. Most transvestites at least attempt to look good lol. And there was nothing wrong with your dresses, people just have no taste.

Umm.

Well, I don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing. As it is, there are lots of people who are making clothing - and it is hard work.

Yes, it is..

hard work, I agree. So just accept the compliment.
