The Pre-Teen Grid?
Via edublogs, the BBC is building upon the CBBC site to launch a 'SecondLife for kids'.
I suppose that the single quotes mean that its not really SecondLife itself but it will be something like it. Or maybe it will be SecondLife. It is hard to tell with this article:
...The BBC is to launch a children's version of the cult virtual world, Second Life.
CBBC World will offer youngsters a safe environment to explore, and provide them with different zones offering CBBC content.
The project is one of the keystones of BBC Children's move to become truly cross-platform.
As in Second Life, children will be able to create virtual versions of themselves on-screen, called avatars. Their characters can then move around CBBC World...
It almost seems clear, but it doesn't mention Linden Lab at all or have the standard 'started in 2003 by a bunch of Lindens' part. Is it being done by Linden Lab? I would guess so. If it is being done by Linden Lab, we may be looking at the [t:PreTeen Grid], not to be confused with Teen SecondLife.
Maybe future articles will be a little more informative as to how this will happen.
