SecondLife hits New Low
Yup. An unfortunate new low - sort of like all those books for sale on the web which promise wealth, fame, fortune and all the sex you could possibly want with all the people you could possibly want it with:
...The problem is though, the learning curve is very, very high. It took me a whole day just to learn how to do some of the basic interactions in Second Life. It was a week before I had the skills to even start trying to do more advance things such as creating my own items in world and buying and selling there. And don't even get me started on the lingo and jargon residents of Second Life use to communicate with each other - or the unspoken manners you need. It's like landing in a foreign country for the first time. Of course, as I've learned each of these things - it starts to become second nature, but it represents many long hours of learning and practice.
Much to my family's dismay, I've been logged into Second Life for nearly 100 hours over the past couple of weeks already. I'm still very new to this world/portal/interface, but I've already learned how to make some money in Second Life (I did it by buying and selling virtual land) and I've managed to interview a number of long term residents who have really sped up my learning curve. On top of that, I was able to find some experts "in-world" who I hired to help me put together the information I'm offering in this package...
The sad thing is that even though this rap gets old - there's one born every minute. Flipping real estate is common sense. Ask this lady. But you probably shouldn't ask Room 101.
Still, I expect that this marks some sort of progress... how long did it take for the secrets of the internet to be available in book form? Wink wink, nudge nudge.
