IBM Fixes ODF for Visually Impaired.

I didn't know that ODF gave visually impaired people problems (I'm not visually impaired), so I was a bit surprised to read that they had fixed it. It was a concern for the Massachusetts' government, which - unfortunately - might be the reason it was done.

Let's face it. Visually impaired people aren't a majority, so policy does help. Will there be proactive development for minorities such as this in the future?

Policy is pretty cumbersome.

One thing I do wonder about these readers - how many languages do they support? Hmm...

I really should sit down with some screen reading software and see what it is like one of these days. I imagine that this site is a severe pain for a reader, with three columns... Are there any open source screen readers out there? I'll have to look.
