NBC to Light Tree in SecondLife (UPDATED)
Update: See Satchmo's comment below as to why I couldn't find the place this morning. They're ahead of the game it seems, so disregard my ramblings on 'find places' in this scenario.
From Reuters:
...The media firm is staging a virtual version of the event Wednesday night to mark its involvement in Second Life, the fast-growing 3-D online world. The holiday party can be accessed at http://www.secondlife.com or http://www.NBC.com, where replicas of the towering tree, skating rink and even NBC Universal's 30 Rock headquarters await online visitors.
The Second Life party is an introductory stunt to tout NBC's continued presence on the site. Sources said the new digital digs will allow NBC to let fans mingle with avatars, or virtual representations, of stars from the network's shows -- making it the closest you can get to network talent without receiving a restraining order...
Well, I checked the NBC site - even searching for SecondLife - no luck.
Following the tradition of many large companies entering SecondLife, there's no NBC within the 'Search' of places. It's nice that it's being done, but... it would be nicer if some thought went into how people found it. You'd think NBC would have made it easier. If there's something that these companies don't seem to 'get', it's how to get their areas marked in the search button.
I mean - 30L a week to get the place found is about 10 cents per week. $5.20 would break the budget? Maybe we should take up a collection for them.
First one to find it gets a shiney box prim... :-)

Credit where credit is due.
Prokofy Neva gets the shiney box prim award. I'll try to send it to Prok, but since I have Prok muted and she's on the warpath, I doubt she'll accept it. Still, I'll try. :-)
Oh, and it had been reported. By Reuters, before me. ;-)
Prok got the prim last night
It was accepted. LOL.

Here's the link to NBC's A Very Virtual Christmas. The event does appear in search now. We were doing last minute work on it this morning before the grid closed and had the sims closed. They were opened about an hour before the grid went down and will be searchable when it comes back up today.
NBC.Com links to it from this page which they are promoting.
Thanks, Satchmo
I'll stop by when I can - and thanks for the explanation! You folks are doing much better than a lot of others when it comes to communication!
