Julian Vesta Plays In FuturePerfect

Julian Vesta at FuturePerfect (2)Thanks to Jaynine Scarborough, I was able to catch Julian Vesta playing in the sim within . The crowd was happy, dancing and asking which room he would be playing in after he got done playing and performing from his bathroom - apparently in Brazil.

From his profile:

Julian Vesta is a Brazilian songwriter and musician who play bossa nova, samba and tropicália with some contemporary taste. His music is heard regularly in Second Life and his second album will be available soon on CD and Free MP3 from his website at www.moodmusic.com.br

Great guitar and heart from this performer from what little I could catch - again, thanks to Jaynine for teleporting me over.

It's heartening to see a South American performer, from Brazil, strumming his guitar in SecondLife and communicating through a vast network of copper wire and optical cable, hanging from poles and strung below the oceans... the little 1s and 0s culminating in the pleasing sounds within a virtual world; a world where people can appreciate his music together - their avatars dancing, chatting. It must feel good for the artist to be so appreciated from around the world, to be a small ambassador across the internet for a culture which is probably alien to most. Tropicalismo, relatively new - is all Brazil.

With Christmas coming around, catching some of these performers may net some great CDs from around the world and supporting artists more directly. There's something which a virtual world beats the internet at. :-)

music marketing spin

wow, your post really illustrates the value of getting involved in Second Life if you are a musician. Easily more interactive than MySpace.

It's not spin, it's Cultural ICT.

Plenty of artists around the world don't make the 'standards' of recording companies - I've known a few - but that doesn't mean that they can't have a success in a world of molecular media. With the lower cost of media, and the easier availabilty of music from around the world... it's just the future. The sky is falling laterally.

Nothing to worry about. :-)

Tk's

Tk's for the critique!!

Keep playing, Julian. :-)

It was a pleasure to hear your music.

Really warm, wonderful performer

My husband wanted to surprise me with a nice afternoon away from our sims, just a bit of music and quiet dancing so we could have some time alone together before we left for Christmas. It was a lovely little piece of Serendipity that landed us in Bliss, and most especially when Juliano was playing there.

What a warm, intimate performer he is! As KnowProSE said above, Ju plays with great heart. He has the most humble and unaffected way of reaching out to his audience. Very sweet and sincere. His performance was quite personal, and peppered with his own scores. It's lovely to hear a music artist's own work, instead of simply cover tunes. Nittas Massiel was kind enough to translate the lyrics to English as Ju was singing, and when my husband requested a song just for me, the one Julian chose -- Tatoo -- was perfect.

He has a rare gift for connecting with people on a very personal level. No trace of artist ego, and music that makes it impossible for your feet to stay tethered to the ground.

I know we'll be inviting Juliano to play at live events on our own sims, and with great enthusiasm when we do. If you have the opportunity to get out and catch him at an event somewhere, it's worth changing plans to do it.

Glad to see your tip of the hat to him here, KnowProSE.

Cheers :^)
