Google Continues Open Source Community Involvement While Ballmer Attempts Reverse Psychology
'Announcing the Open Source Developers @ Google Speaker Series: Guido van Rossum' demonstrates Google's support for open source. This is a part of the Open Source Program Office. Of course, it involves Python, so I'm happy.
Meanwhile, Microsoft says it's Office unfazed by Google threat. Not that OpenOffice.org isn't already a threat - imagine, 3 office suites of software. 2 of them follow open standards. The one not really digging into open standards is worried. If you read that in a novel, you would think it was unbelievable.
Let's get this straight. Microsoft has Ballmer going batty (again), using hints and allegations to drag Linux through the dirt - and we have Google playing nice, having talks, and so forth. And Microsoft isn't worried? Of course not. The people who should be worrying are off their leashes.
Meanwhile, if you see an unidentified flying object, don't sweat it too much. It's advertising supported space flight propagating high velocity space junk. If it orbits, does that mean NASA has to plot it? Probably... a golf ball up there could ruin someone's day.
