The Ethics Group in SecondLife

SL Ethics Group Discussion with Selaras Partridge (Voting)The 525 member Second Life Ethics Group gets together frequently and discusses ethical issues related to SecondLife. Selaras Partridge normally leads discussion, as well as moderates it - both difficult tasks in the context of Ethics. The discussions usually happen at the Villa Balboa Art Gallery (Zeuzera 134,171,113).

One of the dilemma's Selaras Partridge presented today was :

Zorro buys a door texture from a texture store in SL with a Terms Of Service (TOS) that states he can not resell or redistribute it as a texture. Rather, he is permitted to use it to make a prim door and sell the door.

Zorro decides to download the texture to his hard drive and add some extra details to the door. He changes the wood texture and colour and adds a door knocker, then uploads the new image into SL.

Would it be ethical of him to resell this modified image as a texture?

I won't post the interesting responses and the debates that ensued - but I will say that if you're interested in this sort of discussion, search for 'Ethics' under Events in SecondLife, or search for Ethics under groups and join the group.

Oh, and be nice to Sel. It's only ethical.
