'Centric Solidifies Second Life Presence with Integration, Projects, Parks' is a press release by Centric basically stating that Centric is helping SecondLife have less eyesores. You can read about it on the Centric blog. A few months ago, I met Takumi Commons who was doing the same thing, and while the press release is certainly good news, I don't want what Takumi does to be lost in the big company shuffle.
When I met Takumi, she was checking out some little annoying ad spaces in Clear - right by Nobody Fugazi's old manor. I gave her some clothes, made a contribution (I believe that her group was 'Arbor Foundation' or something like it), and went and checked out the park she had made.
While it's nice that Centric is buying up those small pieces and removing other people's advertising - can we be certain that these assets will always be gardens? Would I trust Takumi Commons more than Centric when it comes to that? Grassroots or corporation? Ahh, how the worm turns...
And as an amusing note - is this the equivalent of defragging a sim?
