A Brief Stop In EduNation Within SecondLife

In SecondLife today, I stopped in and saw Dudeney Ge over on the [t:EduNation] sim (SL URL: EduNation 54,61,22). I'd planned to stop in since I wrote 'Global Learn Day : Education In A Multiuser Environment', but only just got to bump into Dudeney on line. He was getting things ready for the who will be having an event there this weekend. You can read about that here over on Yahoo Groups.

I intend to drop in for that because the lively part of a [t:Second Life] in the context of education is when people meet - along the lines of . In the context of the internet, such meetings can be powerful things - faster than a speeding meme, more powerful than a media-spinning social entrepeneur (or whatever the name-of-the-year is).

The sim itself is very quick to load. It's probably one of the least laggy places I have been in Second Life; it's not over-anything. The sim will be formally opened in perhaps 4 more weeks - it looks ready to me, but it's not my sim! :-) The guided tour by sitting on an object worked brilliantly, and I was surprised I did not see it the first time. When I mentioned it to a friend who had also visited, I was told that they had taken the tour. Maybe I simply missed it the first time.

Dudeney and I briefly discussed quite a few things. I mentioned the which I had been working on but which I had to abandon due to land tier and a business decision. Perhaps this is the right place for such a library; it's something I'm kicking around since quite a few people have been IMing me and asking me where it went - much to my surprise. It seems that it was appreciated more than I knew.

Tune in this weekend when I'll hopefully write more about EduNation - good sim.
