Dear Flickr,
As you can see by your records, I once had a professional account with you. I enjoyed it, posting quite a few pictures of things and generally having fun and learning a bit about digital photography. I decided, after about a month or two, that maybe I should restart my professional account which had expired.
Lo. Behold. With $24.95 in perfectly good plastic, your payment mechanism would not allow me to use a US based credit card with a billing address in Trinidad and Tobago. I must admit I was apprehensive when I saw 'Paypal' at the top of those pages. I've documented well why I don't support PayPal, though this falls on deaf ears apparently. I suppose people who live in countries outside the scope of the ubiquitously ad nauseam PayPal don't matter to Flickr - never mind that by population, they may be the majority of the planet. I suppose that they don't want that business; it is not my affair. However, your use of their services has caused me to be unable to use your services, and I find this amusing. As amusing as someone saying that they missed me posting pictures and emailed me their own, as if this was some consolation.
So, people at Flickr, I suppose I must apologize that I cannot give you my money for your service. It is, quite obviously, my fault for not living in the 'right' part of the world. You have punished me, I understand, and I must thank you for saving me $24.95 such that I may move to a country you have chosen to support. I mean, I'm just one person, who being honest had their billing information switched to where I live. Silly me. Had I not done so, maintaining a false address I would be able to use your services.
I must also thank you for letting me know exactly what you think of people who do not live in the few countries that your payment processor supports. So I'll use your free account until I find a better offer, and then I will move on. It is to your advantage to maintain myself and others in a position of 'weakness' in negotiations - so I will not negotiate.
I will vote with my feet, and share my disgust with you and PayPal with the world.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
