Deleaking A Roof
Before my father died, there was a leak in the house. Someone else had the ladder, so I waited (with buckets) to get the ladder back so I could see about the roof. Months pass. The ladder which was taken, not borrowed, never returns.
So yesterday, the ladder came back up. And thus, myself and one of my Uncle's employees went up, to try to patch the leak. Flash bands, and buckets of sealant. After a hard day up there, with a great view and the sun beating down overhead, we pulled up a bucket of water to check.
It leaked.
So, more sealant. More flashband. Lots of discussion, which mainly consisted of, 'Where the HELL is this water coming from?'. We called it quits for the day, hoping that the roof would seal in the heat.
It rained today. I stood by the leak within the house, waiting. A few minutes pass. No leak. A bit longer. No leak. Still longer - no leak.
And just a few minutes after that: leak.
This is why I prefer debugging software. The scenery isn't as good, but it's certainly not as hot on the roof and looking at the code doesn't involve ripping up perfectly good pieces of roof. And having faith in something sealing itself... well, that's just not something I'm good at.
Maybe on Thursday...
