Global Voting
Yesterday, in the midst of a lot of other interruptions, a gem appeared which I find interesting. It was an email from The World Vote Field Test, which you can find out more about participating in here:
The Global Human Referendum aims to connect with individuals, groups, schools, institutions, organizations, administrations, countries and companies in every part of the world.
We are especially interested in working with collaborators who want to participate in the GLOBAL E-VOTING SIMULATION. All that is required is a functioning internet connection and the desire to participate in this test on May 15, 2006.
To get involved with the World Vote Field Test, please contact the coordinating office in Madrid.

How could I not be interested? So, of course, I confirmed and reconfirmed with them that I will participate in the field test on May 15th. What will we be voting on? I do not know. I don't care, really, I just would really like to see more of things like this. I'd like to see the world's society participate in a manner which transcends geopolitical borders which we ourselves didn't create; remnants of older times and limits of technology.
It's a site well worth exploring, and it's a thing that I would encourage people to participate in around the world. There are 11 days left. Get ready. Go. Be part of a global democracy; perhaps in the future the opinions of people around the world will guide even the most democratically elected dictators, bypassing politics and allowing people to share their perspectives and opinions in more meaningful ways.
I expect I'll be getting back to this after I get a few other things done...
