Instant Messenging - Why You Won't Hear From Me That Way
For those of you inundating me via Instant Messenger Services as to whether I have arrived in Dominican Republic well - try using email. It's less disruptive, and is therefore something I use more often.
Instant Messenging is something I rarely use because the majority of people who have contacted me through such services wish to have conversations about how I am, what the weather is like and so forth. As people who know me will tell you, I'm not one for 'small talk'.
The only time I use instant messenging is actually for chat sessions which are scheduled by email. I'm not going to sit around all day wasting processor cycles so that people can ask me what the weather is like. And I'm not going to sit down waiting for someone to sign on so that I can converse with them about something.
