Java Junction, Clearwater, Florida
My main hangout while I'm in Florida is the evolution of the coffee shop I used to hang out all the time. Originally owned by Nettie and Adam (East of Java), then owned by Nick... then during a dark spell owned by a guy named Jonathan (who thought it was a sports bar)... I have returned and it's blossomed into Java Junction.
It's where 'Club More' used to be - and while it's a little out of the way in Clearwater, that serves it well. Spacious and - wireless! Live bands and poetry on the last Thursday of every month, at least for now - and relatively quiet during the day.
The coffee is good, and it's laptop friendly - there are a few outlets lieing around that make it a quiet boon to all those with laptops (though you'll have to buy stuff!). There's the usual fare of sandwiches, danishes and muffins - and there's also the wine and beer for those days when coffee won't do. Beer on tap, too.
Good place for informal meetings, and get togethers.
It's located at:
705 Franklin Street (West of St. Petersburg Times building - which is oddly in Clearwater).
I highly recommend this spot as well. Their phone number is (727) 799-1100 in case you need directions.
Winston and Robin - the owners - also do catering and that sort of stuff. Check them out. Nope, I didn't get free coffee for this.... :-)
This is an add on about coffee shops as telecenters.
