Lunch With Deborah Elizabeth Finn

I had an extended lunch with Deborah Elizabeth Finn and had a lot of fun with this very engaging lady. She even broke out the silk gloves when I grabbed the bill.

We spoke of many things - and it's not often that I find someone who I can speak with on so many topics that has such a deep and thoughtful perspective that is grounded in the reality of experience. A salami sandwich (myself) and a salad with a huge chicken breast (Deborah) later, we were still chatting. Even as we selected the desserts, I was learning a lot from her.

She told me about circuit writers - and allowed me to realize that I would fall under such a title. Sadly, the title Circuit Writer is missing in the Wikipedia. This is something that one of us needs to address - but basically a circuit writer is someone who advocates technology within the non-profit and not-for-profit (and the not-for-much-profit) groups. It's an odd subset of the NGO community which tries to bridge the Digital Divide to the technoplebians.

This became something more though - after our lunch (and discussion on religion, politics, technology and Yiddish trivia) - we headed over to the NonProfit Open Source Initiative offices, where I met Rich Cowan through Deborah. Very good stuff coming out of NOSI, which I will be writing about more at other sites as well as this one.

Deborah - thank you for some scintillating intellectual stimulation and the introduction to NOSI. And next time, this sojourner will be carrying gauntlets to challenge those silk gloves! :-)
