Assumptions Are The Mother Of All...

The Head Lemur has a great post on assumptions. I don't have any that good. In fact, I don't have anything half as good. I could write some fiction, but what's the point?

I share his perspective, though... maybe because I got caught in some assumptions. Maybe it's because my father made sure I left Assumption around the same time I left puberty. A lot of my teachers in secondary school assumed that I wouldn't do so well, and breaking free of that assumption - that perception that I wouldn't do much more than a few passes in the sciences - was something I recall. I recall the Physics teacher saying I wouldn't pass, and then when the results came out said he knew that I could get a '1' (Think 'A') in Physics. Right.

Assumption, perception, prejudice, and implicit censoring of actions. The Head Lemur got his point across with a big wad of bills.

But then again, I never wanted a $1,200 watch. Read the post.

There's only so many ways you can say, 'don't judge a book by it's cover.' Generally speaking, stereotypes suck and stereotypes lead to assumptions, and assumptions are the mother of all...
