Thailand to Jump on the Internet Filtering Bandwagon
Thailand plans to block over 800,000 websites, according to the Sydney Morning Herald (via ICE).
The justification is the invidious scourge of pornography and violence. They're "harming the kingdom's youth," don't you know?
First, pornography, then terrorism, then criticism of the government (being a function of the preceding two no doubt). That's usually how it progresses
It's a shame. Somehow we thought of the government of Thailand as not being so frightened or authoritarian to yield to the tempation of online censorship.
