Hoder Barred from U.S. for Six Months

Apparently the U.S. government is bored with pissing off the rest of the world. Now they are turning their attention to a more difficult goal: pissing off its own citizens, not to mention that ultimate danger to American sovereignty, Canada. They have barred Canadian-Iranian blogger Hossein Derakhshan, aka Hoder, a member of our advisory board, from entering the States for six months.

Hoder is a Canadian citizen. He is a critic of the Iranian government. He is an active member of the international free speech community. (Uh-oh. Does that make him an "internationalist"?) He is, in short, the very last person on the planet who should, were common sense intact, be barred from entry into the U.S.

The trumped-up "charge" that is keeping him out? That he was illegally working in the U.S. Ridiculous.

I echo Jarvis in encouraging all of our American members to write their damned senators and congressmen. I personally resent this because I'm outraged and, despite the bumper sticker, I prefer to pay attention without having to resort to it. And to find this out on Thanksgiving? There's a whole lot of customs officials who desparately need a spanking.

For a complete account see Hoder's post.
