You raise some interesting questions, and are right that this kind of issue will likely arise in other contexts. What for instance of a belief system which holds that certain ceremonies or places are privileged and not to be shared indiscriminately? Is respecting that censorship? On the other hand, what are the criteria for excluding or limiting access to particular information or images? Compromise may not be so simple, but I'd agree that a spirit of respect and yes, compassion, is necessary to work these thing through.
